The UNIMORE research group on Chemistry for Health (C4H)
Our group consists of two research laboratories that complement each other and has expertise in both inorganic chemistry (Ceramic Biomaterials, referee Prof. Gigliola Lusvardi) and organic chemistry (Small molecules, referee Prof. Alfonso Zambon); we combine inorganic scaffolds and bioactive molecules to manufacture materials with tailorable antioxidant and pharmaceutical properties that are also able to assist the regeneration of hard tissues.
Ceramic Biomaterials |

Gigliola Lusvardi has a long experience on inorganic materials for ceramic biomaterials, from the synthesis, functionalisation and complete evaluation of chemical-physical properties.
New formulations will be investigated to obtain mainly mesoporous bioactive glasses doped with inorganic therapeutic ions and/or biomolecules and used for hard and soft tissue regeneration.
Small Molecules |

Alfonso Zambon has expertise in organic and medicinal chemistry and experience in all stages of drug discovery, from hit identification to preclinical development; Paolo Zardi has an interest in the development of synthetic methodologies for organic synthesis based on transition metal catalysis, also by flow chemistry.
Their joint interest is in the design of synthetic routes and methodologies towards organic molecules with pharmaceutical or industrial applications.
